COUNCIL MEETINGS

The District of Ucluelet Council meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month except in July and August, and four times a year as a Harbour Authority. Council may also schedule special meetings as required such as for budget purposes or to meet more informally as a Committee of the Whole. Council also schedules public hearings before a regular council meeting when they are required for dealing with land use issues.

Unless otherwise posted on the notice board at the District office, Council meetings are NOW held at 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room located in the Ucluelet Community Centre at 500 Matterson Drive, Ucluelet, B.C. Agenda packages are produced on the Friday prior to the Tuesday meeting,  copies are available at the District Office at 200 Main Street or online.

Council encourages members of the public to attend.

COMMUNICATING WITH COUNCIL

If you wish to make a request or share your opinion and ideas with council, you may choose to write to council, make a presentation to council, or asks questions during question period.

Correspondence

All correspondence will be considered by Mayor and Council, usually at the first regular scheduled meeting after receipt. A written response may be provided based on council resolution. Please specificy your intention - are you providing information only, do you have a suggestion or are you asking a specific question or proposing a specific action? Council needs to know what you expect from them.

Making a presentation to Council

There are many instances in which people wish to come before Council to raise concerns or address issues they feel are of importance to the community. Such an appearance before Council is called being a "delegation". People wishing to make a delegation must submit their request in writing to the District Office.

Question Period

A question period follows every regular meeting. This provides an opportunity for the public or a member of the press to ask a specific question of Council. You may request clarification on an item considered during the meeting or perhaps just on general civic business.
