District Awards

2008

• A "Community Excellence Award for small communities in the leadership and innovation category" was handed out at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities Convention in September. This award recognizes municipalities that have demonstrated environmental excellence by implementing policies, programs and plans benefitting a community.
• Four out of five blooms in the Communities in Bloom competition in the Mentoring category with the Town of Qualicum Beach.
• A bronze Premier's Innovation & Excellence Award for the Bear Smart Program
• The Vancouver Island Economic Developers Association's Prestige Award

2007

• Energy Aware Award (Community Energy Association) in the Community Planning and Development category as a result of Ucluelet’s exemplary commitment, leadership and vision in using land-use policy to drive energy and climate progress.

2006

• At the "UN Livcom Awards" Ucluelet received a gold award for their Official Community Plan; a silver award and second place for the Most Livable Community below 20,000 population, and the winner's trophy for The Most Sustainable Community.
• The "2006 FCM-CH2M HILL Sustainable Community Award" for sustainable community planning.
• The "Award of Excellence Honourable Mention" from the Planning Institute of British Columbia for the Ucluelet/Weyerhaeuser Comprehensive Development Plan.
